Cladding Pre-Construction Manager

Location: Basingstoke / Covering M4 Corridor

Business Area: Kier Places – Capital Projects

Kier Places are recruiting for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join our passionate Capital Projects Team. With our diverse portfolio of projects, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for the project at hand, and securing work, whilst also being able to work as part of a closely knit team that has the opportunity to develop and control its own destiny. The Capital Projects Team have a pipeline of opportunities to deliver cladding replacement projects to residential buildings across the M4 corridor. You will be working on a portfolio of projects predominantly involving the recladding of high-rise buildings, in which, by their nature, are safety critical works and involve significant fire and general safety risk, with typical project values between £2M and £9M, and of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity, in which successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pre-Con Manager your role will be key to managing and coordinating the pre-construction activities of either two stage or single stage opportunities. You will be expected to lead a small preconstruction team to ensure the preconstruction programme and milestones are met; design management is undertaken in a proper and timely manner; commercial proposals are developed in a timely manner; risks are identified, managed and appropriately apportioned; subcontractors and subconsultants are appointed and properly managed, whilst also managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.

What do we need from you?

With demonstrable technical experience in Capital Projects or the Housing Maintenance sector, you will have an ability to communicate effectively with all external and internal stakeholders. The successful applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to plan, coordinate and manage at the preconstruction stage, whilst also demonstrating sound construction knowledge.

The Pre-Construction Manager will have experience in personnel management, resource allocation and subcontractor procurement with experience of CDM regulations and risk identification and assessment.
