Location: Basingstoke office - M4 Corridor

Business Area: Specialist Services - Housing Maintenance & Capital Projects

Contract: Permanent, full time

Building Futures. Building Teams. Building Careers.

Kier Housing Maintenance have long standing partnership agreements with housing associations, local authorities and private landlords to conduct responsive repairs and planned maintenance across various sites. Our commitment to our clients has resulted in us being shortlisted for Contractor of the Year at the UK Housing Awards 2020.

Kier Specialist Services are recruiting for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join our passionate Capital Projects Team. With our diverse portfolio of projects, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for the project at hand and securing work whilst also being able to work as part of a closely knit team which has an opportunity to develop and control its own destiny. We understand this approach is essential to ensure we consistently win work and secure repeat business.

You will be working on a portfolio of projects predominately involving the re cladding of high-rise buildings. By their nature, the works are safety critical and involve significant fire and general safety risk. Typical project values are between £2m and £9m, and are of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity. Successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Your key role will be key to manage and coordinate the pre-construction activities of either two stage or single stage opportunities. You will be expected to lead a small preconstruction team to ensure the preconstruction programme and milestones are met; design management is undertaken in a proper and timely manner; commercial proposals are developed in a timely manner; risks are identified, managed and appropriately apportioned; subcontractors and subconsultants are appointed and properly managed whilst also managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.

What do we need from you?

Collaborative working with all external and internal stakeholders will be crucial. Whilst expertise in cladding and envelope construction is not essential, successful applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to plan, coordinate and manage either at preconstruction or construction stage whilst also demonstrating a sound construction knowledge.

Leave a positive legacy as Pre-Construction Manager - start your journey now.

What will you receive?

You can expect a competitive salary and an outstanding package that includes a company car, private healthcare, a matched pension scheme up to 7.5%, 26 days’ annual leave (with the opportunity to buy or sell holiday), two employee Share Scheme options, together with additional valuable benefits such as:

* Free Life Assurance
* Access to a range of attractive Flexible benefit options to tailor your package to suit your lifestyle
* Flexible and Agile working (dependent on your role)
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Access to Kier Rewards, our exclusive Discount Shopping Site with deals available at over 800 retailers
* Plus, many more benefits geared to your wellbeing.

Pre-employment checks

It’s worth remembering that we’ll undertake the relevant/standard employment checks if you’re successful in the selection process. This includes taking up your references, as well as checking your ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and your right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks. We encourage flexible working wherever possible in your role - and this may allow you to work from home or from one of our other offices/sites, if appropriate.

Make the journey. Leave a legacy.
