An overview of the role

The PMO Manager is accountable for the delivery of PMO services across multiple engagements within the HMRC Market Unit. They will establish and manage a Programme Office, ensuring all key deliverables are achieved and aligned to the business needs.

The PMO Manager will play a significant role in the recruitment and development of the team, working closely with the Business Unit to support career development and rotation.

In establishing the PMO Service, they will create strong working relationships with key stakeholders, anticipate and engage their needs, both short and long term, to drive efficiencies along with consistent delivery of processes and tooling.

The PMO Manager will form part of the Revenue Groups Leadership Teams and also the PMO and Business Operations Business Unit (BPM) Leadership Team.

The work

Accountable for establishing and overseeing the PMO Services within an agreed structure, typically reporting into the senior leadership team within the revenue groups assigned.
• Responsible for ensuring all projects are resourced, supported and delivered using consistent processes and tooling.
• Has a clear understanding of capability growth within the team along with dealing with any performance issues promptly.
• Continually evaluates the PMO strategies across all areas and proposes changes to optimise and improve.
• Drive the enforcement of standards, processes and procedures in line with Capgemini’s Unified Project Management Methodology.
• Provide coaching and mentoring within the team and establish a schedule of training and development as required.
• Promote reward and recognition within the teams.

Work closely with the senior leadership team in providing key MI information to support the business.
• Ensure allocated costs and spend budgets are appropriately targeted and managed, applying strong analytical skills.
• Support the delivery and financial governance across the revenue group to help achieve the Revenue and Contribution targets agreed each year.
• Support and manage any contribution margin improvement plans, reporting on progress.
• Proactive in highlighting trends which require attention and apply remedy to resolve.

Financial and Pipeline Management within the revenue group:
• Support of the end to end financial Month End cycle, working closely with the Portfolio Director and finance in ensuring all key data is understand in readiness for VP level monthly financial reviews.
• Work closely with Capgemini sales team and the senior relationship manager to ensure alignment of sales pipeline and delivery forecasts, using tooling to bring such data points together e.g. Worst Expected Best.
• Proactively ensure commercial position is understand throughout the month, to minimise revenue at risk.

Promote the PMO Service and build relationships with key stakeholders across the business:
• Work as a PMO Leadership to grow relationships with key areas of the HMRC Market Unit, e.g. Sales, Finance, Demand Management, Business Operations within the Delivery Centres.
• Understand dependencies and boundaries of responsibility between each group.

Act as an escalation point within the PMO Organisation:
• Able to quickly deal with escalations, understand and resolve queries within a timely manner.
