Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Plant Supervisor at Wakefield Concrete, reporting to the District Operations Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of the site and will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, who is able to work on his/her own initiative whilst under pressure in a very busy working environment.

Your duties will include the use of computer based and manual systems for batching and dispatch of concrete, controlling routine maintenance, maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure sites are operated in accordance with the all Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation and within quality scheme criteria.

Previous experience in the concrete industry would be beneficial but not essential.

A good telephone manner and excellent communication skills are essential.

Applicants should be reliable, have an organized but flexible approach and be adaptable enough to be able to respond to the changing circumstances of our day to day business, with the aim to exceed our customer's expectations.

Yorkshire Concrete Area

Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role

Reporting to the District Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the
efficient operation of the concrete Plant.

Main duties include the use of computer based systems for batching and despatch of concrete, talking to customers face to face as well as by telephone, carrying out routine maintenance, supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure the safe and efficient running of this site in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Legislation.

Other key responsibilities include, ensuring that concrete produced, is compliant with our quality scheme and housekeeping at the sites is maintained at a high standard, also providing cover for the existing plant supervisors during holidays or periods of absence.

Skills / Experience

Loading Shovel accreditation.

Concrete batching plant experience but not essential.

A good understanding of the required Quality, Environmental, and Safety requirement on concrete production sites
