Planner - RAF Fairford / Swindon

Job Summary

WYG is one of the leading consultancy providers to the Defence sector where we use our skills, processes and knowledge to provide industry leading services to our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to support a major Defence Infrastructure programme.

As the Planner, you will be responsible for leading activities to develop and maintain project and programme plans for the infrastructure work at RAF Fairford being delivered on behalf of the United States Visiting Forces.

Location

The role is based at RAF Fairford and our offices in Swindon, with occasional travel to RAF Wyton and other sites.

Using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, your duties would include:

*

Development of project programmes using relevant planning software, from inception to completion. This will include developing on the established programme and liaising with the Project Team and Client;

*

To support in the development of the baseline contract programme, covering all aspects of design, procurement, construction commissioning and handover. All elements to be fully logic linked and have a critical path;

*

Analyse the programme and pre-empt potential risks, delays to the programme and highlight to the Project Team / Client;

*

Review and analyse critical and float paths within a programme;

*

Appreciation of resource loading, cost loading and Earned Value Management;

*

Review submitted contractors’ programme and carry out forensic analysis;

*

Awareness of DCMA 14-point schedule assessment;

*

Highlight if the programme is deviating against the contractual baseline and provide reasons why, with mitigation plans;

*

Production of weekly / monthly programme reports as required;

*

Production of progress updates and look-ahead programmes; and

*

Analysis of time-risk, using Three Point Estimates and Monte Carlo simulation.

About You

You should be a well-driven individual with a willingness to succeed and take pride in your work. A career-minded individual who would like to progress in a Planning / Project Controls career path. Someone who can be set tasks and be able to prioritise their own workload to hit agreed deadlines and work efficiently within a team and on their own. Who has a keen attention to detail and an analytical thought process.

You should have experience / appreciation of working on construction projects throughout their whole lifecycle and have knowledge of various types of construction technology. This will allow you to create programmes from “first principles”, using best practice. You should have a good working knowledge of all commonly used forms of contract, including NEC3.

You would be degree-qualified or a Member of an appropriate professional body. A minimum of an HNC in Construction or Civil Engineering would be preferable, but not essential.

You would also need to be able to obtain MOD Security Clearance (SC).
