About the role

Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting for a Planner to be site based one of our water projects working for Anglian Water based in Peterborough.

You will be joining the @one Alliance, which will design and build around 800 schemes worth approximately £1.2billion between April 2015 and March 2020, known as AMP6 – the current five year investment period. Projects will include Flood Alleviation, Water Treatment Works, Water Recycling Centres and water main renewals.

What you'll be doing

You will:

* Ensuring that the programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
* Identifying planning scope, major constraints and contract requirements
* Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme
* Establishing and agreeing with Operations construction outputs and agree working hours with the site delivery team
* Establishing and agreeing with the site delivery team methods of construction, sequencing, installation and commissioning
* Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations and reports.
* Developing overall programmes, issuing to all parties for review and implementing recommendations, innovation and best practice as applicable
* Reconciling company and sub-contract plant/labour and major materials elements in conjunction where appropriate Applying resource levelling techniques as necessary
* Ensuring that the Contract Programme is produced, managed and maintained in accordance with the planning procedures
* The overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities
* Provide support, as required to the BIM Co-ordinators to meet the project requirements or tender submission deliverables
* The set up appropriate lean visual programme to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve productivity, performance and safety of projects

Who we're looking for

You will have:

* Operational experience (Management/Engineering) together with previous significant experience of planning services in large, complex projects within the construction and/or engineering industry
* Proficiency in the use of P6 software
* An understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications
* An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring
* An understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement.
* An understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications
* An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring
* A Good understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning/programming
* A relevant CSCS Card

The contract is for the entire five-year regulatory period, from 2015 to 2020, with extensions which could take it to 2030, making it one of the longest collaborations in the sector. It operates within an alliance of delivery partners set up by Anglian Water
