We have formed a Joint Venture with Costain to deliver the end to end Highways Service for East Sussex County Council. The contract started in 2016 and is worth around £50m per annum, for 7 years. The service includes management of stakeholder and maintenance of all aspects of the Highway. This includes street lighting, traffic and signals, drainage, carriageways, footways, bridges and structures – right through to design and delivery.
As a Permit Co-ordination Officer, you will be a key part of the Network Management Team which is responsible for co-ordinating all activities on the road network and issuing or refusing permits to work in the highway. The team also controls all utility works, ensuring compliance through inspections and the application of fines.
You will be involved in reviewing, granting and refusing permit applications to work on the highway as well as issuing appropriate conditions to coordinate works and allocate road space, including the checking and agreement of all traffic management proposals and licences for any work on the highway.
Part of your role will be representing East Sussex County Council at meetings to contribute appropriately with research, analysis and reporting of information. In addition, you will research customer enquiries and provide advice and guidance to internal and external customers as well as deal with first line complaints.

You will also be involved in the reporting process, assisting in the preparation of management information, including analysis, manipulation and presentation of data.
