Your role

Are you a master of Oracle and PL/SQL? Are you passionate about database development, data modelling and performance? We’re looking for someone like that who can:
– design and develop the Data Warehouse layer of our MIS platform
– work in collaboration with business analysts, ETL developers, quality assurance (QA) professionals and external data owners upstream & downstream
– keep a sharp focus on database design, security and performance
– share knowledge across the whole development community
– take pride in the quality of delivered software products and services (this is what drives you)

Your team

You’ll be working as a key member of the Business Intelligence team in London. Our role is to provide data integration, analytics and critical reporting to senior management of the UBS Investment Banking business. You will be working very closely with key business sponsors, and expected to respond quickly and professionally to varying business requests. Business management uses our products for daily financial and performance management, regulatory reporting and strategic planning.

Your experience and skills

You must have:
– Excellent knowledge of Oracle 11gR2 PL/SQL, SQL and analytical functions
– Experience as Oracle PL/SQL developer, developing ETL code to load data warehouse/ data mart applications
– A clear understanding of data-warehouse concepts (e.g. fact tables, dimension tables, SCD, etc.)
– A clear understanding of Oracle features related to data warehousing, such as star transformation, bitmap indexing, partition exchange, etc.
– The ability to methodically identify sub-optimal application/database operations using a clear, evidence-based analytical approach to remediate issues: for example, using query plan analysis, the PL/SQL debugger, SQL tracing and so on.
– Experience in dimensional modelling for new applications and to extend or modify an existing application.
– Experience using data modeling tools, for example Erwin or Power Designer
– Experience in designing ETL processes: for example, data staging, consistent job restarts after failures and managing exceptions

Preferred and desired skills include:
– Experience in automating batch jobs using scheduling tools, e.g. Autosys
– Exposure to Oracle12c
– Experience of UNIX shell scripting (basic) and file transfer mechanisms
– Informatica Power Center ETL and/or working with SAP BOXI 3.1 / SAP Business Intelligence 4.x

You are:
– adaptable, able to work across teams, functions and applications
– enthusiastic, self-motivated and client-focused
– analytical and methodical, using evidence to solve problems
– a strong communicator, fluent in English
