What if you could work with remarkable people on extraordinary things? What if the end result was something a little bit special? What if your role was mission critical?

For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear weapons research and development. We have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you?

AWE is currently recruiting for a Technician to join our Operations Team, in Epure (France). You will be providing hands-on technical support operating and maintaining high power X-ray machines used in hydrodynamics experiments.

Location – Epure, France (North of Dijon)

Salary - c£26,500 - £37,000 pa (will depend on your level of experience and suitability)

AWE offer a competitive salary, market leading contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, excellent work/life balance including a 9-day working fortnight and flexible working hours (role dependent). A salary sacrifice scheme is also available.

We will consider candidates looking for full time or part time hours.

Following a specialised training programme in the UK and continuing in France, the role will entail using and maintaining all aspects of high voltage systems and flash X-ray diagnostics used to record machine performance. Those who enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, will spend at least 5 years working full time in France.

We are interested in hearing from ONC/HNC (or equivalent) qualified individuals, in an engineering/science discipline, with practical experience in an experimental or operational environment.

Candidates must be willing and able to:

Be permanently located in France for up to 5 years
To communicate in the French language (training will be provided but it should be recognised that significant personal commitment and self-study will be required to reach the required level)
Work in designated areas of site

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
