What is the purpose of the role?
This position will play a key role in creating and delivering the strategic direction of water production and collaboration across water supply. You will be responsible for leading an area team responsible for the treatment and production of quality drinking water for our customers. You will provide input to the development and delivery of a sustainable water production strategy to achieve consistent improvements in financial (TOTEX), people, customer and Health & Safety KPIs. This will be achieved by driving a culture of safety, performance management and exceptional customer service and experience within both your designated operational area and across the wider water production region.

What will this role involve?
Managing a team across your area, this is a varied role that will evolve over time. You will be responsible for delivering an effective and efficient production plan in conjunction with key stakeholders. You will:
Deliver the agree production plan, whilst coordinating necessary outages for maintenance or capital improvement work.
Manage the delivery of the maintenance plan, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Promote a continuous improvement culture that has sustainable strategic impact on operational performance.
Delivery of regional business plan under-pinned by a clear and robust delivery strategy.
Ownership of a people plan that sees an engaged and empowered work force.
Build positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Management of risk including identification, putting in place mitigation and contingency plans, building robust business cases for sustainable solutions and delivery of low complexity work.
Complex and costly capital schemes will be delivered through the capital delivery programme, but require local coordination.
Lead an operational team comprising managers, technical experts and technicians.
What are we looking for?
You will possess an uncompromising approach to health, safety and wellbeing and instil the same with your teams, peers and senior managers. An understanding of the regulations regarding drinking water is key. You will also build customer service capability as a source of competitive advantage, promoting customer service as the number one priority and measure and communicate progress. You will be an experienced leader with a proven capability to translate vision into tactical aims and activities that motivate delivery excellence. Previous experience focussing on customer care principles as well as embedding this into a culture, is crucial. Experience in anticipating and initiating change to meet future customer needs by engaging with both internal and external is fundamental. The successful candidate will also set the agenda and gain the resources you need through gathering information, so experience and an understanding of this is required. You will be comfortable analysing risks and opportunities and turning them in to well-planned and well-articulated business plans. You will set clear expectation for your teams, role model the company values and instil a sense of pride by demonstrating commitment and integrity and creating a reputation for delivering on promises.
Thames Water information and salary details
The salary on offer is £37,400 - £50,600 and the role will be based from our Shalford site, near Guildford. Regular travel around both Thames Valley and London region will be required.
