Description of the job
A vacancy for an Engineer for NDT In-Service has arisen Airbus in Filton. The jobholder is responsible for the development of general and specific inspection procedures used by Airbus A/C operators, has full accountability on the delivery of Feasibility Studies, Technical Notes and Qualification Tests documentation to support the delivery of procedures. He/she is responsible to contribute to de development of NDT methods for In-Service applications, and has full accountability on the delivery of test results and other real time support to customer services queries.
This position will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

o Runs technical qualifications (i.e. Probability of Detection) of new NDT methods or applications, for manufacturing or in-service applications
o Manages the subcontracted activities for the development of NTM procedures, new technologies or new qualifications
o Supports the development of new procedures during the structural tests and teardown stages to prepare their potential application on In-Service conditions
o Manages the Airbus tools such as Click n’ Buy to launch purchase orders for assets and subcontracted activities, and ensures the Good Receive of all them.
o Manages the list of NTM procedures for the development of procedures under his/her scope, prepares progress reports and planning reports for next month’s/years.
o Contributes to the success of the NDT In-Service team, and in general to the transnational NDT team (NDT Production + NDT Structural Tests & Teardown + NDT In-Service) in Materials, Processes and Tests, bringing a positive mind set and willingness to support colleagues and line managers to achieve the targets of the organization
o Shows adaptability to move between the teams, focussing on different stages of the NDT involvement (production, tests, in-service)
This role will involve some travel for business once a trimester in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
You will have the following skills and experience:
o Educated to Bachelor degree level (or equivalent) in Physics, Engineering or a related technical discipline
o 1 to 3 year experience in NDT.
o Experience with project management.
o Experience with Office suite.
o Open-minded, open to receive ideas, proposals or critics from other colleagues.
o Adaptable to different work environments, cultures, approaches.
o Capable of working in a transnational team with the operational manager sitting abroad.
o Self-organised, no micro-management in the team.
o Negotiation level of English. Other languages will be well considered.
