Becoming a National Director of Power with Capita Real Estate & Infrastructure:

We are looking for a National Director of Power (including renewables) responsible for the delivery of professional consultancy services to the power sector throughout the UK.

A representative selection of our clients include: E-on , Western Power, Network Rail, High Speed 2, TfL, UKPN, Main Contractors and National Grid.

This role will requires national leadership from an established, well known and respected individual from within the power sector, who is capable of growing our power sector offering (currently comprising 7 staff) as this has been identified as an area for growth.

What you will do:

* Providing necessary leadership and management to our Power Sector Team in the provision of design services, project management, cost management, asset management and optimisation
* Growth and development of the power sector team’s capability to meet the 5 year business plan
* Business Development and successful winning of strategic opportunities
* Responsibility for the Sector P&L and Business Plan Targets
* Working closely with other Divisions within Capita to provide a holistic power offering to our clients.

The Individual

The position will suit a motivated individual with a strong sector focus and a positive approach to problem solving who has experience and a clear understanding of the power sector with the following attributes:

* A health and safety first mentality
* Results-driven, with a logical, practical and methodical drive to achieving business performance
* An entrepreneurial style with a pro-active approach
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Good planning, governance, monitoring and reporting abilities
* A strong advocate of developing young people to balance business performance metrics and sustainable succession planning.
* A high commercial and contractual acumen
* Financially astute

Your experience will include:

Essential:

* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Chartered Electrical Engineer – Institution of Engineering and Technology (or equivalent)
* At least 15 years industry experience with knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practical application of HV power system design, asset management, asset optimisation and whole life costing
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive pro-active approach to problem solving
* Good communication skills and computer literacy including Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and CAD
* Experience in HV design in the UK electrical utilities distribution/transmission networks.
* Experience in the delivery of High Voltage substation Engineering Procure and Construction (EPC) Projects.
* Demonstrate a strong network of business connections within the power industry with both Utility Providers and Contractors
* Have excellent planning, governance, monitoring and reporting abilities facilitating continual performance improvement.
* Results-driven, with a logical, practical and methodical drive to achieving business performance
* Strong capability in technical authoring and bid preparation.

Desirable:

* Financially astute and familiar with business financial metrics of P&L accounting systems, WIP balances, debtors, accruals and cash flow
* Experience and understanding in renewable energy technology, design and construction
* Experience in HV systems associated with rail transportation(i.e. Overground and Underground)
* Experience of Strategic Business Planning in the power sector
* Understanding of NEC3/4 and other standard industry Conditions of Contract
* An understanding of contract law and experience in bid management and governance
* A strong advocate of developing young people to balance business performance metrics and sustainable succession planning
