Mechanical Engineer - Edinburgh

What's the opportunity?

We are looking for an ambitious Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our Edinburgh-based team.

This role will see you working as part of a talented team focussing on projects in Scotland and further afield. The Edinburgh team have delivered high profile and diverse projects across a variety of sectors, including sports, heritage, workplace, higher education, and more. Such diversity will offer you significant breadth of technical exposure and above all a chance to push boundaries in sustainable building design.

You'll be collaborating with a wider UK MEP team of around 125 Engineers and Technicians, and drawing upon the diverse skills and knowledge of other connected disciplines, including sustainability, building physics, fire engineering, facades, lighting, technology, and more.

This role will see you technically and creatively challenged on some of the most interesting developments in Scotland and further afield. What design work will I be doing?

* Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design - e.g. HVAC, etc.

* Preparing technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.

* Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.

* Keeping senior design team members informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the Buro Happold and the client are achieved.

Outside of design, what else will I do?

* Plan and organise your workload to ensure that you are meeting clients expectations.

* Attending client, site and external design team meetings.

As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate...

* Extensive mechanical design experience in an MEP consultancy;

* Ideally some experience as an mechanical job/project leader;

* Diverse sector experience

* Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering

* Chartership with a relevant institution or working towards - e.g. CIBSE;

* AutoCAD, REVIT and similar software skills.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
