Mechanical Engineer - London

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer in our London Building Services team.

Role description

The Engineer fulfilling this role will take ownership of delivering sustainable and innovative design solutions for building services projects led by the office, across a range of sectors and locations geographically.

Responsibilities:

* Carrying out service and project work to an excellent standard within agreed deadlines & within budget

* Plan & Manage input to CAD for production of design work & represent BuroHappold at meeting with clients, other professionals and suppliers

* Add value to a project and start to think beyond own discipline

* Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions

* Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters

* Responsible for planning, organising and managing personal workload in order to meet deadlines in line with client commitments

* Proactively raising concerns regarding workload and ability to meet deadlines

* Undertake detailed engineering building services design & calculations (using both software & knowledge to verify robust calculations)

* Ensure service & project work are carried out to an excellent standard- within agreed deadlines & within budget

* Coordinated work with other members of the project team

* Contribute to the design and delivery of discipline engineering on multiple projects, seeing them through to completion

Person specification

* Experience of mechanical design engineering in a building services consultancy.

* Experience on large scale projects across various sectors.

* Inquisitive approach and capable of producing innovative solutions

* Adaptable and prepared to offer a range of sustainability services in the long term

* Proven track record of experience at all project design stages from concept to detailed design

* Working knowledge and understanding of British, European and ideally international standards

* Excellent knowledge of BIM required and be able to use REVIT for design and production of drawing and schedules

* Fully conversant with Microsoft office packages including Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, et al.

* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (BEng) or Masters Degree in Engineering (MEng), in a relevant subject that meets the requirements for professional registration/chartership.

* Membership of recognised professional body (CIBSE, IET or ASHRAE) and evidence of progress towards professional registration/chartership status.

* Strong team work skills

* Clearly share complex technical ideas and concepts to a non-technical audience

* Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations

* Good communication skills

* Organised and process driven
