What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified mechanical & electrical engineering technician to ensure that all equipment associated with our Marlow sewage treatment works are running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive electrical & mechanical maintenance methods. Using your qualified expertise, you will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, electrical & mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team you will follow robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant and mechanical and electrical equipment operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What will this role involve?
This mechanical & electrical engineering technician role will be working in a multi discipline team, with the following responsibilities:
Carry out scheduled, planned, mechanical and electrical maintenance work in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize plant breakdowns.
Investigate the nature of plant failures and subsequently carry out mechanical & electrical repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.
Carry out the repair and maintenance of electrical motor drive systems and associated control systems including Inverter drives.
Carry out the installations, refurbishment and commissioning of mechanical plant to specification and on time.
Investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
Providing technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Examples of equipment you will be working on will be: Various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, Electronic control systems such as VSD's, Automatic valves and penstocks, Flow, level and pressure measurement, Programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, Chemical handling and dosing equipment
What are we looking for?
Are you an apprenticeship-served technician? Do you have experience working with industrial plant equipment?
We are looking for a combined mechanical / electrical qualified technician with similar experience in a related industry. Experience and working knowledge of large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSDs and 3 phase electrical switch gear is essential. Computer literacy and the ability to input data on bespoke software is required. Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential and as the post will work across a number of sites in the region. The work will require physical fitness; so you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
Thames Water information and salary details
This mobile role is based out of Marlow sewage treatment works. We are offering a salary up to £32,000 OTE, depending on experience and qualifications. Our excellent salary package includes a competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more. Participation in a 24/7 out of hours' standby rota may be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment. All necessary equipment such as vehicle and tools are provided. Please note, working hours will be approx. 07:30 - 15:30. The bigger picture.
