Position Objective:

Coordinate/manage projects and existing processes required to achieve best practice and regulatory compliance across Trading Book Risk responsibilities including permitted products management, product approvals, limit management, risk analysis and stress testing.

Reporting Line:

The role reports to Siobhan Cooke, Head of Permitted Product Management, which is sits within the Trading Book Risk Management group headed by Nic Fries (who reports to ICG CRO). The role will be part of a team of 10, 6 of whom are in Belfast, but will work closely within the broader Global Market Risk team of over 100 Market Risk Managers, as well as with colleagues in other Risk Teams, the Front Office and other control areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate/manage both new Risk initiatives/projects and existing Risk Management controls including:

Permitted products management and control process improvement including: Enterprise Product Hierarchy evolution and governance coordination across Businesses and Control

Functions, new product approval and review processes, product permission compliance monitoring.

Risk limit management and control process and infrastructure management;

Large, Complex and illiquid trade pre-trade approval and compliance processes and infrastructure evolution and management;

New regulatory requirements implementation (including enhanced Derivatives and Securities-based Financing Transactions risk management processes, infrastructure and controls);



Previous experience engaging with Global Financial Markets trading businesses in Risk, Front Office, Finance, Compliance, Legal or Operations;

A proven track record in delivering project initiatives, working in, or leading, a team;

Understanding of traded financial products and risk management and a good understanding of mathematics/statistics.

Experience of working with, and defining requirements for, business technology solutions.

Good understanding of key risk and control considerations for a global trading business.


Quick learner with ability to quickly analyze and understand a problem, with a big picture approach as well as attention to detail, and to propose and implement appropriate innovative and/or pragmatic solutions.

A self-starter with initiative and good organisational and planning skills who drive multiple deliverables concurrently to a very high standard.

Good communication, teamwork and influencing skills.

Spreadsheet analysis skills (ideally including functions and macros)


University degree in quantitative subject (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Science, Business, Accounting, Engineering).

Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
