Maintenance Technician

The Opportunity

As the next Maintenance Technician, you will be a valued member of the station at Hartlepool to ensure the daily operations of the station run smoothly and offer best performance possible. You will be responsible for the safe and reliable operations of a nuclear power plant in accordance with all licenses, regulating bodies, company business strategies and industry best practices You’ll be focused on delivering high levels of plant availability through timely value-added maintenance of the plant using your previous experiences of working in the Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation sectors.

The Role

Being appointed into this position, you will be required to complete the following roles to ensure the smooth running’s and operations on site. These include:

* Carrying out maintenance activities safely, in accordance with procedures. Doing so will require you to update procedures as required and feeding back on issues found with the plant.

* Completing maintenance records in a timely manner. Ensuring that the ERI programme is supported via feedback on plant condition pre and post maintenance.

* Ensure maintenance activities do not adversely affect the environment while working within budgetary constraints of the team.

* Running reports on safety, environmental and plant issues in a timely manner using station CR process and reporting via Team leader Work Execution Centre (WEC) and Operations team. You will also be required to report all issues/faults to the Central Control Room Supervisor or Work Execution Centre Duly Appointed Person.

* Working flexibly within teams under daily direction of the Team Leader as well as actively participate in personal performance appraisals and take ownership of delivering personal development plans.

The Skills

The Maintenance Department at Hartlepool hold separate sub sections consisting of Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumental. With this, we’re looking for you to be experienced in power plant maintenance or other heavy industry and it would be preferable for the candidate to have a Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumental experience. These include:

Mechanical Experience: Overhauling various types of Valves, Pumps, Compressors, Diesel engines, Boilers and drive equipment including V belts, chain drives, couplings and more.

Electrical Experience: Overhauling motors, starters and control equipment, H&V fans, Actuators as well as lighting and small power, fault finding on AC/DC electrical systems.

Instrument Experience: Calibrating and overhauling equipment associated with the main area principles (pressure, flow, level, temperature). Setting up and calibrating control valves and associated control circuits, fault finding on instrument systems.

As a minimum, entrants will have completed a recognised apprenticeship and received NVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent) for the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation roles.

We are looking for you to have a "can do" attitude and implement this to your daily workload, you will be self-driven and confident with challenges set out to you within your daily role. As the station is moving into Defueling in 2024 this position is subject to changes as we transition into end of generation. With this, we are looking for you to be adaptable to the stations changes and how this can benefit your future careers in EDF.

Competitive Salary & Benefits

The salary range is between £32,356 - £41,118, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent of your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, incremental and competency-based progression and a Company pension scheme.
