Vacancy: Maintenance Technical Author

We currently have a new opportunity for a Maintenance Technical Author to join our team on site in Royston. Working with the Engineering Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the preparation of technical information and the production of documentation across Maintenance operations.

Prepare technical information and produce documentation including Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Works, equipment user manuals, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting guides
Work with Production Operations, Process Safety, Technical and EHS teams to review and deliver up-to-date documentation for operations including authoring, publishing and communicating technical information
Own the development, formatting, quality, peer review, testing and uploading of documents whilst maintaining documents through their lifecycles
Turn complex engineering jargon into simple understandable information and concise steps
Keep up to date with latest industry best practices for authoring, publishing and communicating technical information for all appropriate audiences
Define internal standards to be used for best practices for authoring, publishing and communicating technical information for all appropriate internal and external audiences
Collaborate across the wider business to share best practices and learning
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have:
HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Good understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety issues on a Chemical/COMAH site
Skills in reading and using P&IDs and PFDs in all departments
Strong IT skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
Demonstrable experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, ideally chemical
Experience of technical writing is advantageous
Experience in the use of document control systems with an understanding of standardised document development is beneficial
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to articulate technical descriptions in non-technical language
Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least three months.
