What is the purpose of the role?

The purpose of this role will be to lead and develop a team of mechanical and electrical technicians to improve and maintain customer service and operational performance within strict quality targets for the Chilterns area, focussing on High Wycombe, Slough and Aylesbury.

What makes this role unique?

This is an exciting opportunity to join us within a high profile role. This will provide you with an opportunity to work as part of the team responsible for the operation of a various water treatment works, process plants, as well as surface and service reservoirs. You will be responsible for the team's health and safety, training and development, financial control and overall performance.

What will this role involve?

Process Management: Ensuring the site achieves and maintains its required plant availability and reliability in order to meet quality targets at the agreed cost.

Financial Management: Owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.

Performance Management: Ensuring the team achieve optimal performance in terms of work management, developing the team and introducing new skills including health and safety awareness.

Stakeholder Management: Ensuring an exceptional service to our internal customers with early personal interventions as required.

Health and Safety: Effectively manage the health and safety of the team as well as auditing the health and safety system and processes.

Learning and Development: Continually improve the performance, standards and capability of the team to meet today's needs and develop for tomorrow.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has been working within a similar working environment with a mechanical and electrical background and has previously had the health and safety responsibility for individuals and sites and also managed a team within an operational function alongside this. Excellent IT skills and a technical bias are essential, and having working knowledge of SAP would be an advantage. The ability to lead and develop people is a crucial skill in this role so you must have good communication, interpersonal and organisation skills. Ideally you will have gained your experience within the water industry or utilities sector however, this is not essential as training will be provided. It is essential that you have a maintenance (mechanical/electrical) background. A full, clean UK driving licence is also essential.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based out of our water treatment works at Bourne End, but will involve travel to other sites within the Chilterns region. We are offering a salary up to £39,000 depending on skills and experience, and a company van will be provided.
