Description of Team / Department

Cement/Packed Products/Operations

Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role

Comply fully with all legislation (Health and Safety at Work act 1974 etc…

Maintain packing plant in a flexible and reactive manner

Mechanical repair to packing machines, conveyors and other plant

Have a basic understanding of Electrical maintenance i.e. motors, contactors ,sensors and PLC I/O

Knowledge and experience of Fabrication work i.e. welding, gas cutting, grinding

Proactive in identifying problems and finding solutions

Tasks will include:

Carrying out maintenance and repair operations specialising in the packing and palletising equipment in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan /budget, improving reliability/ efficiency and availability of the plant and machinery achieving the lowest effective maintenance costs for all equipment, in addition with other areas on site when deemed necessary. A good understanding of pneumatics is essential. skills in fault finding and replacing mechanical parts such as bearings sprockets chains cylinders and valves.

Electrical fault-finding skills using electrical drawings and an understanding of electrical circuits. Knowledge of PLC's and profi bus systems. Experience in light Fabrication work such as brackets, chute repair, guarding and welding repairs, no programming skills required.

The successful candidate

Will require a strong H&S focus. Key Responsibilities: As a Fitter the job role would include: Maintain Health & Safety to HSE & Company Standards
Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduling servicing in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Attend asset breakdowns and effect repairs to ensure minimum down time. Trouble shoot and fault find any defects on machines and carry out repairs as necessary. Communicate necessary repairs to site engineering supervisor. Maintain & Exceed Workshop Targets &
Efficiencies. Work Well Under Pressure Requirements - Applicants must have excellent organization and communication skills with a good understanding of health and safety legislation.

Skills / Experience

Ideally NVQ level qualified
Time served Apprenticeship/ Training with experience
Occupational qualifications (Welding / Cutting / Grinding etc.)
Minimum of an IOSH certificate in Safety; although this training could be supplied to support an appointment.
Ideally trained in Risk Assessment / Risk Management principles
