M+E Shift Engineer - Building Maintenance

We are currently looking for a Building Maintenance Shift Technician to join our facilities services team based at New Papworth Hospital, just outside of Cambridge.



Maintain and repair the complete range of mechanical or electrical engineering services associated with the Health Care estate. This will include, for example, the following: engineering services, medical devices (beds, trolleys etc), portable equipment, fixed plant, fire alarms and building management systems.


Following engineering and building drawings and specifications, providing satisfactory levels of output linked with high standards or workmanship for complex systems, fully understanding the relationship between mechanical and electrical systems.


Working hours: 12 hour shifts over 4 day working pattern (4 x Days, 4 x Off, 4 x Nights, 4 x Off etc).

We’re looking for:


C&G Craft Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Services or In Plant Engineering or BTEC ONC in Mechanical Engineering with JIB or equivalent.


Completion of a structured training programme in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is desirable


Previous experience in a building maintenance engineering role is essential

New Papworth Hospital is a 310 bed specialist Cardio Thoracic hospital newly constructed on the science campus just outside Cambridge (adjacent to Addenbrookes Hospital). The new hospital, which is a being constructed under the PFI banner, will replace the existing Papworth Hospital situated in Papworth Everard Hospital.
