What is the purpose of the role?
The Lead Process Engineer will work directly with the Head of Wastewater Treatment and the leadership team to drive compliance towards zero pollution to water, land and air to achieve our aspiration of 100% compliance. Your role will be to drive the activities with the process leads and their teams across the three regions to standardise operations, spread best practice, and to lead the introduction of best practice from external environments. You will also be responsible for establishing, monitoring and communicating plans across the business and externally and will co-ordinate headline programmes such as the Investment programme and the compliance steering group.

What will this role involve?
As the lead process engineer you will:
Prepare and support the business to achieve its aspiration of achieving excellent environmental compliance.
Key indicators will include the number of Cat 1-3 pollutions, the number of Cat 1 -2 pollutions, numerical consent failures from STW's, % self-reporting of pollutions.
Review incidents and embed learnings across the regions, playing a key role in driving the vision of becoming a learning organisation.
Liaise with and influence multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Provide strategic direction in drive environmental compliance, to ensure the business is in the best position both today and in the future.
Be a member of the wastewater treatment leadership team.
What are we looking for?
To be considered for this role you will ideally be educated to degree level in environmental science. Detailed knowledge of the wastewater treatment processes and having strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret data to provide useful insight is advantageous. You will be an exceptional communicator at all levels of an organisation and will have worked in a customer centric business. Internal stakeholder management is highly desirable and you will be commercially astute with the ability to be the 'expert' within your field. You will be competent with IT systems and will be self-confident with a wide technical knowledge base.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at our head office in Central Reading, Berkshire. We are offering a salary of up to £65,000 depending on your level of experience. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year. A valid UK driving licence is required as significant travel will be required across the Thames Water region.
