Reporting to the project engineering manager the Lead C&I Engineer will be responsible for the day to day management of discipline engineers and/or engineering design subcontractors. This will involve planning of work activities, estimates and schedules, and reporting of progress.
Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, construction, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse C&I systems and components. Generally as a lead of a design, analysis or review team on complex engineering assignments.
Performs a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews.
Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
Organize and supervise a group of employees or subcontracted engineers for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.
May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Conduct site visits, investigations and analyse engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and procedures.
Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
Chartered C&I Engineer
Design team lead experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
Pro-active problem solver
General nuclear building C&I experience
Some electrical experience would be beneficial (up to 400V)
Experience of safety case justification
Experience of building regulations and planning submissions
Experience of CDM regulations
Area of oversight responsibility;
Security access and alarm system
Fire detection system
Criticality detection system
Due to the nature of the role and the client, it is important that all applications have resided in the UK for at least 5 years. We need all candidates to ideally be Security Cleared (SC) or have no issue in obtaining SC. A prerequisite for SC is that the applicant has lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years.
