We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team at Agecroft A&A for Tarmac in the Northwest. We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.
This is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires focus on the Quality Control of Aggregates and Asphalt, helping to maintain a positive culture to the reduction of complaints and high-quality material supplied from the unit.
Reporting directly to Senior Technician, we would expect the successful candidate to be experienced in computer use and basic reporting. They would be expected to comply with Tarmac's Safety and Quality Management systems ensuring all activities are carried out in line with standards and policy, and supporting the health and safety culture by setting a personal example. Previous Laboratory experience is preferred but not essential as on the job training will be provided.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Tests – To carry out product sampling and testing in line with procedures and British Standards – BS EN 12350 & 12390
Laboratory – To carry out equipment calibration in line with procedures and British Standards; to carry out routine aggregate testing in line with procedures and British standards
Documentation – To complete documentation and ensure this is filed correctly, and input test results into the appropriate system
Advice to production units – To advise management or supervisor or production people when quality standards are being compromised and instigate action to rectify or prevent non compliance.
Safety – to comply with Company Safety Policy and promote a high standard of safety awareness.
Image – to promote company and act as representative when with customers.
Carrying out tests on time and meeting test frequency – reported in Quality KPI’s
Correct identification of quality issues and taking effective action
Compliance with standards and QA procedures – measured in company internal and external audits
Working safely with no LTI’s. Actively reporting near misses. – measured by Operational support
