We are presently looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Communications Product Engineering group. . Reporting to the Software team Lead you will gain hands-on experience in all facets of Software Engineering from Software Design and Development through to Integration, Commission and Test and will deal with challenging situations in real-world conditions. Also you will have access to a catalogue of training, both online and in person, which will allow you to develop your skills and experience.
Junior Software Engineer Role
As a part of the role, you will work as part of a software development team to aid the design, implementation, and integration of new features into software builds under the guidance and tutelage of the software team lead and architect.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Daily maintenance of existing software.
Assessment and fixing of customer issues and ‘bugs’.
Implement new features, under the guidance of senior developers.
We are looking for applicants with the following experience:
Degree level of software engineering knowledge
Use of Linux-based operating systems
Knowledge of C, and C coding practices
Knowledge of Linux command line networking functions highly advantageous.
Understanding of IP networking, IPSec, and next-gen protocols are advantageous.
Involvement with Free and Open Source community advantageous.

This role is based at our Airbus Defence and Space offices, Newport, South Wales, and involves working within the UK Defence industry, requiring the applicant to be able to be security cleared to a UK SC level.
This role may involve travel to EuropeanAirbus D&S sites and international Suppliers/Customers. As such you must be able to travel accordingly.
