IRT Manager NCC Area 7 (Internal Applications Only)

What is the purpose of this role?

This is a new and important role in A7, reporting direct to the Network Custodian Manager and managing:

* Our 24/7/365 Incident Response Teams (6 teams working 4 on 4 off) and operational solution

* Leading on routine maintenance to structures and being the key client lead on structures performance

* Managing our colleagues within the NCC – ensuring they offer maximum value to our contract in a fully integrated way. Ensuring cover is provided as and when necessary, while driving enhanced performance to support our wider operations

* To be our CDM15 Temporary Works Coordinator

* People manager for a team of c. 12

What does this role involve?

* Helping to establish and continually develop a new, designated IRT and structures solution, ensuring it proactively aligns with CPF / contractual performance metrics

* Being actively involved in ensuring the operational solution works commercially – working closely with our colleagues in Commercial to provide the necessary 24/7/365 resilience at the right cost

* Responsible for managing a team of c. 28 with people management responsibility for circa. 12

* Running our people in the NCC and for driving continual integration and performance to best suit the needs to our contract

* Being responsible for the quality and timeliness of our IRT attendance and clear up

* To lead on CDM15 and actively drive safety including random site visits across the week and at various times. To act as the Area 7 Temporary Works Coordinator and promote the understanding and importance of this function

* Brief your team via regular tool box talks and safety briefings

* Provide support to the QS team when required, through your call logs and knowledge gained whilst managing incidents and reporting on network defects etc.

* Engage/arrange for the use and attendance of supply chain when necessary – ensuring right first time and optimum value for money

* Ensuring the team remain suitably trained, competent and compliant at all times

* To actively support and participate in our winter service delivery

* Mentor employees and apprentices as required

Qualifications

* Full UK Driving Licence

Skills

* Competent user of Microsoft Office

* Understand client business, requirements, service needs and aspirations

* Good liaison and interpersonal skills

* Team management skills

* Customer relationship skills

* Commercial awareness

* Basic Programming of teams

* Excellent organisational and communication skills

* Participation in emergency and winter service delivery

* Self-motivated and proactive in delivering solutions

Experience

* Previous experience of Highways Maintenance contracts

* Experience with delivering Incident support and winter services

* Experience of performance monitoring and continuous improvement

* Some operational knowledge

* Experience of managing NCC personnel - desirable

* Experience of Chapter 8 and Traffic Management on High speed roads

Technical competencies – desired but not essential

* Required:

* Lantra 12AB Foreman qualification

* CDM Awareness and CDM15 Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable)

* Environmental Awareness Tool Box Talk

* 12D RTM Operative (Mod T1/T2)

* Personal Highways Safety

* Medicals - Other

* NRSWA Supervisor
