We design and manufacture a complete range of transportation systems, from high-speed trains to electric buses and driverless trains, as well as infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions. 1. Objectives:

1. Create understanding of manufacturing flow and dynamics of a complex high-mix low volume production environment

2. Develop an understanding of Industrial Engineering’s key involvement in industrializing an assembly for serial production
3. Interface with plant Industrial Engineers on tools and analysis of work center inputs/outputs for identification of constraints

4. Foster understanding of key factory layout, material flow and manufacturing elements

2. Projects:

1. Plant layout CAD modernization- modify plant specific CAD files to reflect the current state layout of the factory. This includes measuring and drafting up machines/benches/etc and ensuring the master layout reflects the current state
2. Incorporate APSYS required elements into master layout to create visual maps and aids

3. Work with Industrial Engineering on developing tooling and fixture needs

4. Collaborate with Industrial Engineering to analyze current state layout for opportunities in material flow, material presentation, bottleneck constraints and other organizational improvements

3. Learning Opportunities:

1. Applying/developing industrial and process knowledge within live manufacturing environment. By the end of the internship employee can expect to understand challenges and dynamics of a high-mix low volume production environment

2. Developing skill set for analyzing a fully functioning factory layout for key constraints in material and process flow

3. Interface with multiple groups within the organization (will interface with Industrial, Quality, and Manufacturing teams)

4. This role will also include other training opportunities such as lunch and learns with other business areas, community service initiatives, special projects with other interns, etc
Qualifications / Requirements:

* Two or more (2+) years of college in an Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related degree program

* Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to work successfully in team environments and communicate effectively

* Ability to pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, and balance multiple tasks

* Strong computer and Autocad skills
