Image Processing Graduate Engineer
The Image Processing department plays a pivotal role in the concept and life of MBDA products. We work on high complexity weapon systems and understand how the various subsystems interact and have a direct influence on design decisions. The algorithms we design lie at the heart of the missile system.
What’s the opportunity?
An Image Processing engineer at MBDA develops and evaluates state-of-the-art algorithms incorporating detection, classification, tracking, reconstruction, and restoration tasks across a range of imaging modalities including visible, Infra-Red and Synthetic Aperture Radar.
As a graduate engineer you will become a key member of a dynamic team working within the Image Processing department at an exciting time of growth and opportunity. Responsibilities will include researching, developing and evaluating algorithms that integrate into wider complex weapon systems across all stages of the lifecycle. This will either be through externally or internally funded research studies to investigate algorithms for future developments, or as part of fast-moving and challenging product teams.
You will get involved in:
Development of Image Processing and Computer Vision Algorithms: Segmentation, Filter Design, Noise Removal, Compression, Super Resolution, Tracking, Optical Flow, Particle Filtering, Pose Estimation
Data fusion to combine data from multiple sensors;
Support to concept and feasibility studies,
Internal Research and Development (IRAD) to support future weapons and technology demonstrators such as implementing deep learning techniques to solve a range of complex problems.
Our work is mostly MATLAB/Simulink focused and you will work on this tool daily.
This role is a great opportunity to play a key role in the development of our complex weapon systems, and gain in-depth knowledge of their design and functionality. You'll get to work with engineers from a broad range of disciplines (e.g. Guidance, Control & Navigation; Simulation & Modelling; Software Engineering; Systems Design & Validation; Seekers & Datalink Systems) and you will get to see cutting-edge technological innovations. Yoy have the opportunity to work with colleagues in MBDA France and Germany and also attend relevant workshops and conferences both nationally and internationally.

What are we looking for?
* Degree qualified in a subject with strong mathematical content e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar, to a minimum 2:2.
* An analytical approach with the ability to visualise complex systems
* Good verbal and written communication skills
Ideally you will have knowledge and experience in some of the following:
* Matlab, Simulink, C/C++
* Deep Learning libraries:PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras
* Python including SciPy, OpenCV, Scikit-learn, Pandas
* Model Based Design
