Profile

The Institutional Equity Division
(IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of
equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm’s equity Sales
& Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and
create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha.

The “core” team are charged with improving the efficiency & capabilities
of the Java/C++ Library used by Morgan Stanley's Equity Derivatives group. The
library supports MC, PDE and various analytics to price, calculate greeks and
PnL attribution for equity, commodities, fixed income and credit derivatives.
The successful candidate will work with the "desk" strats supporting
desks around the world, review all code changes and assist with projects making
general improvements to the analytics as well as do code reviews of other's
changes. The library uses a formal SDLC testing system the group is responsible
for, including releases 3 weeks out of 4.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Participate in the design of the analytics
library and it’s integration within the firm IT systems
* Provide expertise on financial products traded
on an equity trading desk
* Participate in the effort to improve the
development processes
* Build cutting edge components within the
analytics library to improve the firm capabilities in trading and risk managing
equity derivatives product
* Create tools to improve the productivity of
the global strat team
* Mentor and guide members of the core strat
team

Qualifications

* Strong programming skills in a commercial
environment
* Extensive knowledge of C++ is preferred ( or
Java with some C++ knowledge)
* Experience of working within a front office
strats / quant team
* Experience in leading a team of similar
developers on successful financial software products
* An advanced degree in a scientific or
quantitative subject such as Engineering, Software Engineering, Applied
Mathematics or Physics
* Experience with derivatives products and/or
financial maths is required
* Ability to communicate effectively in both
written and verbal English
