What is the purpose of the role?
We are currently seeking an ICA (Instrument, Control and Automations) Technician to work on water production assets across the Reading area. The purpose of the ICA technician is to inspect, maintain, test or repair as appropriate, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and associated PLC's, instrumentation, control and automation equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an individual to join a dedicated maintenance team working within the ICA department. Your work will directly impact maintenance objectives. You will be based out of Bourne End water treatment works close to Marlow, and will be covering water treatment works, booster stations and reservoirs across the area. The role covers a range of activities from planned preventative maintenance through to defect maintenance both in and out of normal working hours. As well as excellent training and development opportunities there is opportunity to progress your career within maintenance and operational teams throughout.
What will this role involve?
You will be working in a small multi discipline team, which the role entails:
Carry out unscheduled, emergency and scheduled, planned maintenance work on plant equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize plant breakdowns.
Investigate & diagnose complex faults from plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.
Carry out the installations, refurbishment and commissioning of mechanical plant to specification and on time.
Providing technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Carry out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via the Manager.
Ensure the health & safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is excellent at all times.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training, including confined space. Providing a daily support function to Specialist Process Controller.
What are we looking for?
Are you a qualified ICA technician? Do you have experience working on industrial plant equipment? The successful applicant will have completed an approved apprenticeship and ideally be qualified to: HNC in electrical electronic. NVQ level3 Electrical electronic. 17th Edition electrical regulations. City and guilds electrical installation. PLC / Instrumentation relevant qualifications (Manufacture specific). SCADA Wonderware Training. Clear SCADA Training. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read P&IDs and fault find PLC code. We are looking for someone with experience of calibration and maintenance of front line instrumentation; with a good understanding of relay logic and PLC's which will include the management and programming of them. Experience with a switch network, SCADA and profibus would be advantageous. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry. You will be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry. As you will be using a company vehicle to make your way around the site a full current driving licence is essential. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment.

We are offering a salary of up to £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota of 1 in 6 will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment. All necessary equipment such as vehicle and tools are provided. Please note, working hours will be approx. 07:30 - 15.36.
