What is the purpose of the role?
Forming part of the high voltage maintenance team you will assist the SAP in delivering the maintenance, isolation and returning to service of HV electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. You will also be fault finding and repairing HV and LV equipment. This specialist role will be looking after 300 water and wastewater substations across 70 sites within the catchment area between Swindon, Banbury, Crawley, Watford, Basingstoke & Twickenham.

What will this role involve?
Assisting the SAP in delivering maintenance to high voltage equipment and associated assets, operating on average at 11 kv on water and wastewater sites across the entire catchment area.
Maintenance of HV power distribution assets - transformers, circuit breakers, motors and alternators.
Fault finding and repairing HV and LV equipment.
Working inside and out in various weather conditions and noisy environments.
Supervising working parties of staff or contractors during maintenance activities. Observing requirements of electrical safety rules and company health and safety policy.
Inspecting and testing HV equipment and accurately complete condition reports.
Reporting unsafe conditions and taking immediate action as appropriate.
Housekeeping and grounds maintenance of indoor and outdoor substations, maintaining ancillary equipment including batteries, battery chargers, lighting, building services and various other duties as and when required.
Undertaking appropriate training and authorisation under our safety rules as senior authorised person (SAP).
Organising work activities and resources in the delivery of maintenance activities.
Understanding the significance of HV/LV electrical assets and prioritise maintenance requirements accordingly.
Maintaining company assets, records, tools and equipment in good, safe and satisfactory condition at all times.
To be customer focused and appreciate the needs of the various parts of the business.
What are we looking for?
Are you conscientious, keen & self-motivated? Do you have formal electrical trade qualifications & experience in a relevant industrial engineering environment including maintenance and fault finding? Applicants with formal training in electrical technology or craft training will also be considered.
We are seeking a technically proficient electrical specialist with good working knowledge of general health & safety requirements and electrical safety rules. You will possess good inter-personnel & communication skills, and be numerate & literate. Basic IT skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision is essential. Due to the nature of this role, a valid UK driving licence is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This mobile role has a flexible base location at either Mogden sewage treatment works in Middlesex or a large water treatment works in the West region. We are offering a starting salary between £38,753 and £52,431 depending on experience and qualifications.

Please note, this is a 45 hour working week and the hours are 07.30 - 17.00 Mon - Fri.
