Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Industrial Services are currently recruiting for a HSSE Advisor with extensive experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The role is a permanent staff position and will be based in the London area

Responsibilities and Duties

* Ensuring that Wood together with the contractors, adopts a Safety By Action Culture (SBA). They will provide leadership and support necessary to ensure efficient Health, Safety, Security and Environmental, (HSSE) management in accordance with the GSK
Safety Health Environment Management and affiliate safety procedures with the main aim to create, plan and maintain secure, safe and healthy working conditions throughout the sites, while protecting the environment during construction and turnover operations.
* Understanding Client and Wood HSSE procedures and work practices, and safe working procedures and communicate these requirements to relevant site personnel and ensure that such procedures and practices are being effectively applied.
* Thorough understanding of the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001, and ensure sites are managed to these standards.
* The HSSE advisor will establish a programme of HSSE workplace inspections and Behavioural Safety based audits, ensuring that nominated personnel complete the required documentation. All actions from inspections / audits will be tracked to ensure
closure.
* The onsite construction management organisation will be given support and governance from the relevant Home office construction department.

Skills / Qualifications

* Diploma in Health, Safety & Environmental Management
* College Education in Occupational Health and Safety
* NEBOSH Health and Safety Certification
* Certified First Aider inc. CPR
* Communication skills and a proven ability to communicate at all levels
* Report writing skills
* Effective record keeping and attention to detail
* Auditing of procedures, records and compliance
