What is the purpose of the role?
The largest water and waste water supply company in the UK are looking for a key individual to provide important high voltage (HV) electrical technical support. Working across the water and waste processes, this role represents a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference as you will be covering approximately 70 sites in the geographical area from Dartford throughout Central London to Battersea and Ryemeads to Croydon.
What makes this role unique?
This role provides challenge and responsibility. You will be able to use your strong leadership skills in managing electrical safety and delivering routine maintenance on key electrical HV and primary low voltage systems and in the implementation of capital upgrade schemes, ensuring compliance with the company electrical safety rules. Full industry leading and comprehensive training will be provided as necessary for the successful candidate.
What will this role involve?
The role will involve working to tight schedules, overseeing operational maintenance, repairs and performing SAP duties in issuing HV and low voltage permits to work.
Effective management of defect work and HV commissioning is a significant part of this role including capital projects with electrical contracts valuing up to £20M.
You will act as lead SAP for a number of operational sites with varying sizes and complexity comprising a wide range of HV switchgear, equipment and transformers.
What are we looking for?
Experience of the electrical industry, fault finding on high voltage equipment and a clear understanding of BS7671 (IEE wiring regulations) is key to the success of this role. You will be suitably trained, qualified and experienced as an authorised person and ideally have an understanding of water / wastewater processes and the relationship to electrical power distribution systems. You will be a good team player, have good analytical and interpersonal skills, be an effective communicator and be willing to face challenging issues. Due to the nature of this role, a valid UK driving licence is essential.

This role has a flexible base location within the Greater London region and a salary rising to approximately £45k dependent on skills, experience and progression. Our excellent salary package, car allowance, competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, child care vouchers, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more. Participation in a 24/7 out of hours standby rota will be required, for which you will receive an additional payment.
