About the role

Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy plant mechanical Engineer to join our team to work in Birmingham.

Role Purpose:

To carry out the repairs and maintenance on the Earthworks machine fleet.

What you'll be doing

* Ensure all operations conducted in line with the minimum Balfour Beatty Vinci Joint Venture H&S standards
* Test the machines after repairs or maintenance to ensure proper performance and compliance with BBV Joint Venture specifications
* Recording of repairs and/ or any replaced damaged and worn parts
* Inspect machines in order to diagnose defects
* Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
* Dismantle and reassemble fleet machines using the appropriate machinery
* Lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on the fleet
* Schedule maintenance for the fleet and keep equipment service records
* Understand operating manuals and schematics
* Test machines to ensure operating efficiency
* Responsible for stock levels and lubricants
* Liaise with subcontractors engineers and assist when required

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:

* Appropriate CPCS Qualification
* Clear customer focus
* Knowledge of plant / asset hire industry
* Clear drive and ambition
* Ability to effectively manage conflict and negotiation
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety Management
* Extensive knowledge of the Earthmoving industry
* Experience working on a construction site
* NVQ Qualification in Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance (NVQ level 2/3) or equivalent
* Experience in conducting repairs and maintenance on heavy machinery
* Commercially aware of budgets and able to work within monthly budget

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

* Strong computer skills - focused on Excel / Word / PowerPoint and ideally and ideally conversant with other software, e.g. MS Project.
* Previous management experience
* Competent to operate Earthworks plant
* Competent to operate Earthworks plant
