What you'll be doing
On completion, Hinkley will be the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations and the first to be built in the UK for more than 20 years.
We recognise that people are what make projects a success, and having the right calibre of H&S professional to drive our business objectives forward is paramount.
As the H&S Advisor - Tunnels, you will be responsible for the provision of timely health and safety advice, guidance, training, management reporting and practical management solutions to Project Staff, employees and contractors.
It is absolutely essential that you have existing tunnel experience for this role.
Who we're looking for
You will be an experienced H&S Advisor with the ability to provide advice, support and direction to project base, contract/project management team and HSE Advisors to enable them to support project teams to deliver Zero Harm in a coherent and co-ordinated manner.
Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, inspections and audits at prescribed intervals – record outputs and liaise with site management to ensure actions are completed. In conjunction with Executive General Managers / Managing Directors / Directors, carry out project and business sector HSE performance reviews using lagging and leading indicators.
Review and investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty standards to identify and share lessons learned. Ensure actions and recommendations are tracked whilst fulfilling HSE, Customer and Balfour Beatty accident reporting requirements.
Monitor, collate and interpret health and safety performance data including close out of inspection and accident investigation reports, and provide management reports on a routine basis, whilst working with the HSES Director and Senior HSES Manager to promote Zero Harm and continuous improvement of safety performance through special projects and health and safety improvement plans.
* Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
* NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate
* Relevant CSCS Card
* Health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance
* Experience of working around lifting operations, construction plant, excavations, working at height,
electricity, formwork and working adjacent to the public
* Investigation techniques
* Good knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Working within a Heavy Civil Engineering/ Major Construction environment previously
* Offshore experience / Tunnel experience
* Construction Industry Experience and in particular CDM 2015
