About the role

About the role

Joining our Virgin Media Network Expansion team as of Head of Wayleave, leading and motivating a large team and external suppliers, responsible for securing the many Wayleaves permissions including route approval activities across major programs, core trunking, street cabinets, and national fibre deployments necessary to support Virgin Media’s network expansion and B2B deliveries. This role also includes accountability for some critical back office and shared service activities encompassing planning pack production and bill of materials assembly.

Therefore you'll be a key part of delivering network architecture and providing connectivity to new customers as we continue expanding our network!

A key expectation of this role is to transform the existing Wayleave organisation by establishing the optimal insource vs outsource approach, adopting automation routines and reducing costs on non-conformance. Whilst Improving cycle times, forecasting proficiency and Management Information insights.

The must haves:

* Demonstrable experience of working on a national Wayleave portfolio with operational responsibility and transformational skills to develop and deliver a customer centric strategy.
* Examples of advanced negotiations that you have personally managed, where it drove desirable outcomes and mitigated risks. Including experience of understanding commercial and contractor obligations under commercial arrangements such as NEC4.
* Proven experience in leading, coaching and mentoring operational field-based teams with 3rd party suppliers to produce tactical outputs.

Other stuff we're looking for:

* A thorough understanding of the regulatory regime and building code rights of network design and construction process. With may include New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) qualifications and BTEC, HNC in Civil Engineering or similar.
* Experience of budgetary control – Ensuring compliance to financial governance processes.
