Location:

Opportunity for an experienced Graduate Structural Engineer to join our highly regarded and award winning team in Bristol BS1 4RW, working out of our largest office, overlooking the Harbourside (at the time of writing we are working from home, but there is an appetite to return to the collaborative and social environment that is a Hydrock office, when it is safe to do so).

You will need to be eligible to work in the UK without our sponsorship to have your application considered for this role, as we are not able to provide a Skilled Worker visa for this position.

Please note that this is an open vacancy and you must be available to start within a month. If you are graduating later in 2021, please apply for one of our graduate vacancies later in the year.

Hydrock is an independently owned multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy of circa 500 staff, operating out of 16 offices in the UK. We are one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and a champion of well-being (note our Health and Wellbeing Leader of the Year award last year at the NCE100). We believe part of our success is looking after our people and our values help create a unique, dynamic, working environment. Feedback from our client listening programme and employee surveys indicates we are great to work with, whether providing a service to a client or rewarding employment to an employee!

You can expect exceptional colleagues to work with and learn from and an interesting variety of challenging and sometimes prestigious projects. Recent examples include the UK Hydrographic Office, Finzels Reach, Bristol General Hospital, Concorde Museum, Wapping Wharf, University of Bristol School of Mathematics and The Wave (which recently won the People’s Choice award at the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2020). Being a multidisciplinary office, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other disciplines, including building services, acoustics, fire, utilities, civil infrastructure, transportation and geo-environmental. We also have pool and table tennis tables, big views and plenty of socials which we look forward to revisiting when we return from our remote desks!

What you’ll be responsible for

* Contributing to scheme and concept designs
* Delivery of detailed design including full tender and construction packages
* Attendance at client, design and site meetings when required
* Liaison with statutory authorities, architects, the design team and contractors

What skills and attributes are we looking for

* MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
* You must have gained some relevant undergraduate/postgraduate industry experience. Please be sure to notify us if you have completed a year in industry, and the skills/experience you gained during this year.
* Graduate Member of the IStructE and or ICE
* Strong communication, analysis, technical design and drawing skills
* Knowledge of BIM
* Basic AutoCAD and Revit skills desirable
* Self-motivated team player with good people skills
* Someone ambitious, who believes in our ethos and wishes to be part of Hydrock and our success

What you can expect in general

Inspired and motivated colleagues. A great team, office and employer. A genuine opportunity to create and to be recognised and rewarded.

The remuneration package will include a competitive salary, bonus, family PMI, generous employer pension contribution, 25 days annual leave (with the option to buy/sell up to five days and accrue 1 day for each 2 years of service), well-being bonus and a wide variety of flexible benefits. There are also little things like a paid day off for good causes and free fresh fruit in every office.

We consider all applications on an individual’s alignment with the required qualifications, knowledge and experience outlined in this job advert, without regard to any of the protected characteristics. So that we can provide everyone with a fair selection, assessment and employment experience, please make us aware if you have any physical or neurodiverse condition for which appropriate reasonable adjustments can be made by us.
