About the Role
We are looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join the thriving and successful team in our Birmingham office. A typical day in the life of an RPS Quantity Surveyors would include:
• Consulting with Architects and Surveyors to develop designs, including timescales, surveys required and costs involved
• Developing programmes illustrating the process from initial design to final completion.
• Monitoring project progress once building starts, checking progress and quality of the build
• Ensuring health and safety and risk is managed for both client and contractor
• Providing updates on project to the client
• Assisting in project valuations
• Creating and monitoring variations and change requests

About You
Ideally you will be a graduate (related degree or not) who is ambitious and looking to start your career in construction project management. The successful applicant will have a good academic background in a relevant subject area such as Quantity Surveying and Construction Management. Training will be provided along with guidance on existing processes supported by experienced Quantity Surveyors currently engaged on the projects. Suitable candidates will have excellent time management skills, be well organised and able to demonstrate a proven capability in report writing. You must have superb communication skills and be confident using IT, in particular Excel. Good numeracy skills would help. An understanding of the principles of the construction process is also required as well as a strong awareness of health and safety. You should be goal focussed and be able to amend planned activities at short notice. Knowledge of the various RIBA Stages would be advantageous, along with an appreciation of risk management. Problem solving and related project management skills would also be useful.
