Cummins, a
global power leader, designs, manufactures, distributes and services multi fuel
engines and related technologies for various markets including truck, bus,
rail, marine, prime and standby power generation and mining. With headquarters
in Columbus, Indiana in the US, the company has operations in 197 countries and
sales of around $18 billion in 2016.

Cummins’ hire to
develop strategy offers graduates an environment where structured development

The Darlington site, which recently celebrated
its 50 th anniversary, produces
around 40,000 diesel engines every year for key European, Middle East, African
and Asian customers. Used in truck, bus, rail, defence, marine,
construction, material handling, mining and power generation applications, the
engines range from 4.5 to 8.9 litre cubic capacity.

The
European Technical Centre, based on the Darlington site, has played a
significant role in driving key product improvements since the 1980s. It
has pushed emissions to the near-zero levels of Euro 6 for Cummins powered trucks
and buses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Applies
basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices to assigned tasks in
the development, analysis and release of products and subsystems through the
product life cycle.

*

Assists
in creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight,
performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

*

Verifies
design using analysis and or functional testing, interpreting results, driving
decisions and assessing risk.

*

Works
with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve
product issues.

*

Evaluates
customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.

*

Uses
prescribed and innovative methods and works with limited guidance.

*

Participates
as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.

*

Carries
out partially defined and moderately complex tasks.

*

Demonstrates
good understanding and applies knowledge of an engineering discipline.

*

Applies
engineering and scientific skills and continues to develop experience in
creating engineering solutions.

Training Provided

Throughout the scheme you will be
provided with training in sector specific technologies as well as general
training such as presentation and communication skills, structured problem
solving and Cummins practices and procedures.

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

Education, Licenses,Certifications

Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree
in an Engineering or related discipline (including Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry).

Experience

Minimal relevant work experience desired
such as internship, co-op, or other pertinent work experience.
