About the Role

As a Civil Engineering graduate at WSP you will have the opportunity to work in our Water or Highways teams. These teams provide opportunities to work on projects such as a movie-themed entertainment resort in Kent, strategic infrastructure improvements such as the M25 widening and Upper Orwell Crossing scheme in Ipswich which includes design of a new 600m long viaduct.

All in a day’s work

We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent client emails.

Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in report writing, modelling or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings and client updates from the start. There may even be time for cake.

It might also be helpful to know that we have arranged for some of our graduates to attend our assessment centres where they can tell you more about their typical day and what it’s like to be a graduate at WSP.
