Posted Jul 24, 2019 - Requisition No. 76299

The Global Data department is at the core of Bloomberg, the foundation of our offerings. Global Data are responsible for sourcing, transforming and enabling content to enrich The Terminal and feed Enterprise clients. To do this, the Global Data team offers the most of capabilities. We have expertise across industries, asset classes and technical skills.

The Global Data Managed Investments team, built up of SME’s, analysts and data scientists are responsible for the entire life cycle of data relating to Funds, Holdings and Indices across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Working in collaboration with our global counterparts, we provide the financial community with high quality static & dynamic data in a timely manner through The Bloomberg Terminal and Bloomberg Enterprise Solutions. Our team of data scientists is dedicated to implementing techniques that drive automation, increase accuracy and help increase our time to market, with downstream customer use cases in mind.

What’s the role?

You're passionate about large sets of financially focused data. You have probably run projects with data scraped from the web or a social media platform. You are passionate about natural language processing and have applied some of the main NLP methodologies to solve real world problems with data. You are comfortable working in a stripped down Linux environment and are keeping up-to-date with state-of-the-art computing approaches. You enjoy designing workflows and implementing end-to-end production technologies to improve processes.

A key aspect of our work as part of Bloomberg's Global Data department is finding, extracting, and interpreting data in regulated & unregulated documents. To aid this process, you will develop algorithms to classify documents or extract key pieces of information most relevant for our clients. In this role, you will get the opportunity to work with large data sets that power the decision making process of the global financial markets, which includes over 330,000 Bloomberg Terminal Subscribers. We expect you to take lead on your work and collaborate with multi-disciplined stakeholders to find opportunities for the application of NLP across our product suite.

We will trust you to:

* Leverage Data Science to enhance & expand Global Data (ML, NLP, HDFS/Spark, GPUs)

* Liaise with internal stakeholders & Data SME's

* Write production code (predominantly Python)

* Get hands on with our data and up-skill in a primary financial asset class

We expect you will have at least 2 of:

* Academic qualifications in a quantitative subject

* Demonstrable application of machine learning in real world commercialised products

* Demonstrable agile software engineering experience

Does this sound like you?

Apply if you think we're a good match. We'll get in touch to let you know what the next steps are! We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status

Bloomberg is a disability inclusive employer. Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments to be made for the recruitment process. .
