The Functional Architect Team Leader manages all engineering activities concerning vehicle functions in one specific project (requirements management, Functional Vehicle Requirement Specification -FVRS, Functional Vehicle Design Specifications -FVDS, Functional Concepts, Functional Vehicle Test Specifications)
The Functional Architect Team Leader is the technical internal interface to System engineering, Train Control & Management System -TCMS, Vehicle Architect Electrical, Mechanical and Performance
Your responsibilities will include:

• Being a member of the functional architecture team in railway rolling stock project and bid by contributing to key technical decisions concerning functional architecture including functional changes at vehicle level and critical integration documents (e.g. requirements allocation, functional concepts, test plan)
• Technically Lead a team on 2-5 team members focusing on specific Functional domains of the train
• Acting as design authority for all elements pertaining to functional integration by:

 Ensuring that vehicle design respect safety, reliability and maintainability requirements
 Ensuring strict application of design integrity
 Ensuring a good understanding and the application of the customer requirements, industry norms & standards
 Ensuring that functional interfaces are being addressed properly
 Ensuring optimal design considering normal mode operation, degraded mode operation, failure modes, functions independency, flexibility for adaptation, and redundancy within the required reliability
• Review and approve critical integration documents such as:

 Requirements allocation
 Functional Concepts
 Vehicle functional architecture

 Vehicle functional description

 Functional Vehicle Requirement Specification –FVRS

 Functional Vehicle Design Specifications –FVDS

 Systems Interface Control Documents -ICD

 Functional Vehicle Test Specifications

 Test Plan

 Technical clarification and deviations request and update of the customer’s specification
• Participate to customer and internal project design reviews (Concept Design, Preliminary Design, Detail Design). Lead technical negotiations with the customer concerning vehicle functions. Responsible for functional architecture project reporting and Key Performance Index -KPI. Represent Functional Architecture team in the engineering project core team
• Responsible to manage the functional integration team and develop competencies. Prepare and maintain time planning and resource planning of the functional integration team Build succession by training direct reports to fill position at end of mandate
Key requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Overall, 10 years of experience of working in System Engineering
• Experienced Manager within an international Engineering team
• Good planning and organization skills
• Relevant experience in rail System Integration & TCMS
• Proven experience in developing/integrating subsystems
• Proven experience showing ability to logically analyze and manage complex situations
• Fluent in English
