Primary Purpose of the Role:
An opportunity has become available for the role of an experienced Military Air Environment Aviation Safety Professional to join the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Flight Operations Organisation (FOO) based at West Wales Airport (WWA) Aberporth / Crawley operating the Watchkeeper (WK) platform in a T&E environment. The role will include day-to-day management of the Air Safety Management System (ASMS), the Flight Operations Risk Register and the Air System Safety Case in support of WK flight Operations. In addition; Coordination and control of the occurrence reporting process, managing both DASORS and InForms, promotion of an Engaged Air Safety Culture (EASC) within the team, and wider industry WK community, and coordinating procedure/process updates in support of regulatory change.
This role will include occasional meetings at other Thales sites in the UK and also off site at Customer or supplier establishments.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Provide leadership and direction in all areas of flight operational safety.
Implement and maintain the Air System Safety Case (ASSC) principally via the Air System Management System (ASMS)
Liaise with the MAA in support of the CFAOS approval on regulatory and safety matters.
Advise, implement and manage changes in the regulatory environment (in cooperation with the regulatory compliance organisation) and propose ASMS
Changes to the HoF and AM(MF). Manage and maintain the Flight Operations Risk Register including BowTies and ALARP/Tolerable arguments on behalf of the AM(MF)
Be the point of contact & offer professional advice for programme on safety matters relating to Air Operations & Air Safety Management.
Managing the day-to-day occurrence reporting process, coordinating and carrying out investigations for both DASORS and InForms reporting progress at the Monthly Occurrence Review Group (ORG)
Identify Safety related trends, issues, and opportunities associated with process or product that may impact on the business.
Contribute & enhance the developing Air Operations knowledge base within Thales by engaging and building relationships with internal & external contacts.
Assist/generate safety inputs for: FOO reviews, Air Safety Management Board meetings, Air Safety Meetings, and any necessary associated reports.
Skills, experience and qualifications needed:
BEng in related aeronautical engineering discipline or equivalent service related qualification and experience
Have experience working within flight safety and the Military Air Environment operating to the MRP or civilian equivalent.
Have demonstrable experience in managing an Occurrence Reporting system.
