Our Role

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Fitting Assessor to join the Workforce Renewal Team within Networks. Networks Workforce Renewal is responsible for the succession planning, recruitment, management and assessment of Pipeline Learners within the Networks business.

You will be responsible for preparing, delivering and developing ongoing training to ensure continuous improvement of the support we offer to our Learners. In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring and driving the completion of the Apprentice training programmes in a timely manner to ensure that identified learning needs of SSEN overhead line operations are met working in partnership with L and D.

Providing support and technical knowledge to staff to ensure their safe operational working, you should have a thorough understanding of SSE Operational Safety Rules to deliver lesson plans for Competent Persons and Low Voltage Authorisations. You will ensure that the content of training packages is updated in line with Company developments, policy changes and operational requirements.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working on the Network as a qualified Electrical Fitter, with a proven track record of working to a safe and high standard in Fitting techniques, LV and HV. You will preferably hold an A1 Assessors qualification; however, this is not essential. You will demonstrate an ability and willingness to mentor and coach staff, encouraging them to strive for continual improvements in quality and performance. You must have the ability to motivate, not just the Learners, but the business, especially when working to get suitable experience for the Trainees to gain a broad spectrum of activities. You will be able to recognise issues with existing practices or procedures and be able to resolve or bring new ideas forward.

This would be an ideal role for somebody who is keen to develop their people management skills and have a passion to develop our Learners to become the next generation of safe, competent and knowledgeable employees.
