MBDA Missile Systems - Deliver for a more secure tomorrow

An opportunity has arisen in an agile and responsive team for an Environmental Project Engineer to work across the product life cycle on a number of weapon systems collaborating with functions and senior leaders across MBDA.

In Environmental Engineering, our project teams are integral within all land, sea and air based weapons system projects. Environmental Project engineers provide a technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept definition and product development, through design aid and formal qualification, and into in-service support. Expertise covers the areas of: requirements specification and management; data analysis; simulation and modelling; and testing in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock), structural mechanical and fatigue.

Our Project Engineers work closely and build relationships with a range of MBDA functions, sectors and Chief Engineers including Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design and Proving teams. ing specialist technical knowledge and providing advice to projects, with responsibility for delivery of technical aspects of data analysis activities.

We provide technical expertise in generating environmental requirements, developing robust product designs and defining and managing efficient test strategies throughout the product development cycle. We work closely with other experienced project and test engineers to define and manage test programmes.

We interact with customers in the delivery of data analysis tasks or technical work packages, including data gathering trials and assessments, platform integration activities, and structural modal assessment, ensuring delivery to the required quality, timescale and budget.

What are we looking for?

* Ideally educated to degree level or with strong experience in running projects in a laboratory environment.
* Working experience of Environmental Engineering, ideally within the defence sector
* Has a detailed understanding of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments
* Understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation
* Analytical and problem solving skills
* Effective at working in teams with strong interpersonal skills
* Strong ability to push through the right technical solution.
* Driven, self-motivated and proactive in leading programmes of work
* Plan, deliver and monitor assigned work packages, making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility
