Support the development of the UKs latest major infrastructure investment and have a hand in transforming tomorrow.

As an Environmental Manager on the HS2 programme, you will have the chance to work on one of the UK's largest transport infrastructure projects helping to ensure that environmental issues are robustly addressed. Working with other members of the team, youll be seconded into HS2 to manage and lead the Phase One environmental design elements of a section of the proposed railway corridor from London to the West Midlands (LWM) in accordance with the HS2s organisational requirements, environmental commitments, environmental law and regulation. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to ensure that the design and construction of the LWM route area complies with the technical and sponsor requirements, environmental commitments, environmental law and regulation; provide guidance for environmental design solutions for your area and ensure that environmental issues and constraints are key considerations in project design; Liaise with technical stakeholders via various different forums at local, regional and national levels and the local community on sensitive issues and critical review of all design and construction deliverables produced by environmental consultants, enabling works contractors and main works civils contractors. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

Bachelor degree/MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline; Membership to a relevant professional organisation (preferably chartered environmentalist status or working towards);

*

Track record of managing environmental assessment and design on large or complex infrastructure/engineering projects;

*

Proven project management ability managing, monitoring and forecasting resource / budget requirements and procurement processes for complex projects;

*

Knowledge of relevant UK Environment legislation and current best practice guidance;

*

Demonstrable skills managing individuals and working with multidisciplinary teams on a range of projects.

*

Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental issues.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

*

Site / construction proven ability within large or complex infrastructure projects;

*

An EIA and/or environmental management background;

*

A background of preparing / reviewing material for and attending public consultations;

*

A good understanding of GIS, SharePoint and eB.
