Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Downstream Europe & Africa are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Coordinator with extensive experience in EPC Projects within the Pharmaceutical Industry.

This is a permanent staff role based in our offices in Glasgow, but a degree of flexibility is required to travel to the client site in Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities and Duties

Contribute to delivery of Engineering excellence through:

* Driving technical assurance with a strong focus on process safety.
* Managing and leading teams.
* Executing assigned business objectives.
* Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
* Developing and retaining motivated and competent people.
* Undertaking the role of process owner.
* Supporting and supervising the discipline teams.
* Performance reporting to senior management.

The EM role will serve and support an Engineering, Procurement and Construction services contract for a major Pharmaceutical client

* Manages competence of Engineering team, assessment and development.
* Manages succession planning and delivery on behalf of the contract.
* Assist in setting & maintaining standards for the development and retention of motivated and competent people.
* Management of recruitment, selection, transfers and promotion of resources to meet Engineering team requirements

Process Ownership:

* Manage delivery of technical assurance.
* Continuous promotion of corporate / client specific procedures /clients. Assist in incident investigations as required.
* Ensuring lessons learned / best practices are cascaded across the business.
* Setting performance expectations for direct reports.

Subject Matter Expertise:

* Actively maintain own competence and continuous development.
* Assist in identifying and requesting functional support to the project / contract as required.
* Roll out and implementation of learning opportunities from across the business.
* Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments.

General:

* Deputising for Head of Engineering.
* Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to respective team.
* Executing assigned business objectives.
* Create and deliver business improvement strategies; e.g. such as refined processes, new technology, or improved ways of working. Sharing with PEERS where opportunity exists for best practice.
* Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
* Manage and direct resources efficiently and effectively. Internal:
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the business interfaces.
* Engage with business / functional community and promote the function including: networking / knowledge sharing.
* Maintain communication with Head of Engineering.
* Communicate and co-operate with external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as appropriate and requested), market intelligence, relevant conferences, and business development. As delegated by Head of Engineering.
* Management of all personnel within the contract / project Engineering team.
* Management of change, people and process.
* Organisational change.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Degree qualification in relevant subject.
* Chartered Engineer or equivalent with recognised professional body.

Minimum Experience:

* Demonstrable experience in similar Project Engineering role
* Demonstrable balance of industrial and management experience at relevant level and position.
* Experience managing in-house technical resources
