The UDCS Risk Senior Officer II is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within one area. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication is typically required. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.

Responsibilities:

Works with key banking units (e.g., Global Power, Energy, and Mining, Export and Agency Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance), Corporate Sustainability, and Risk Management to assess and manage environmental and social risk, including:
Leads transaction reviews across a variety of sectors (metals and mining, oil and gas, forestry, power and other large infrastructure sectors), across all geographies
Incorporates ESRM requirements and/or advisory capabilities in marketing letters and term sheets
Participates in transaction approvals and advise on potential ESRM requirements for internal policy purposes as well as syndication
join client calls and meetings to discuss client environmental and social risks and advise them on meeting international ESRM standards
Leverages third party ESG data platforms, conduct corporate-level and portfolio-level reviews of high-risk sectors (i.e. extractives, agribusiness) to identify any clients that present elevated environmental, social or reputational riskCovers businesses involved in the underwriting and distribution of dC16t or equity, ensuring that associated franchise risks are adequately addressed.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

Significant experience, including experience in ESRM at a financial institution, or lenders environmental and social due diligence as an environmental and social consultant
Professional experience in international business and an environmentally themed degree in science, engineering, international development, economics or sustainable business; in addition to required work experience, additional experience in socially responsible investing, corporate sustainability or environmental health and safety in industry, or ESG analysis is beneficial.
Highly motivated, excellent attention to detail, team oriented, organized Developed effective presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through

Education:

Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
