Job Title: Electrical Fitter Technician

Reporting To: Danny McGee, via Team Leader
Job Purpose: To provide an effective electrical installation and maintenance service to the MTC APS team by meeting the needs of the research programmes and supporting engineers with projects. To work in a team with other technicians from multiple disciplines to help commission electromechanical systems ranging from large scale manufacturing installations to small one-off devices designed by the engineering team. Work closely with MTC research engineers as part
of project teams, to provide advice on electrical
commissioning work required, including time,
materials, and costs for quotation purposes
Duties & Responsibilities: Support the research engineers to ensure electrical installations for the project requirements are met (electrical control panel building) Support research engineers with the production of electrical drawings and schematics. 753 Electrical Fitter Tech (v5) Page 1 of 4
Provide knowledge and skills base to support MTC research programmes through the delivery of electrical knowledge.
Complete electrical installations in conjunction with
the relevant BS codes of practice and to the highest
quality standard in line with the MTC company
Assist and advise in the planning and preparation of
research projects to ensure they meet customer
requirements and schedules.
Ensure that work is undertaken to meet or exceed
the customer’s quality expectations.
Identify, select and purchase tools, materials,
components and consumables required to ensure
satisfactory progress and completion of projects, in
conjunction with any relevant health & safety
legislation, i.e. COSHH.
Engage in training programmes consistent with your
needs and aspirations and those of the MTC.
Ensure that confidentiality requirements associated
with particular areas of research / projects is
Supports the research partners in the development
of the MTC to be a vibrant environment for
undertaking applied research.
Ensure compliance with the current legislation and
best practice, in particular in the area of health,
safety and the environment.
Candidate Specification: The post holder will need to be able to demonstrate
a level of autonomy with supervision required in
more complex projects/tasks.
The successful applicant will be placed in a team
based environment, they must be able to
communicate to both technical and non-technical
audiences inside and outside of the MTC.
