Electrical Engineering Lead – Design

Would you like to play a key role within
Electrical Engineering on the MOD Spearfish torpedo contract? We currently have
a vacancy for an Electrical Engineering Lead - Design at our site in Portsmouth
within our Maritime Services business. This is a key full-time role on the MoD Torpedo
Repair and Maintenance Contract (TRAM) within a challenging Electrical
Engineering environment.

As an Electrical Engineering Lead - Design, you
will be providing design authority capability in Electrical Engineering for all
Spearfish torpedo processing and electrical equipment in-service under the
current MoD support programme.

This role will provide you with the opportunity
to lead a small team of engineers and to develop and expand this team to support
current and future torpedo programmes.

Your main responsibilities as an Electrical
Engineering Lead – Design will involve:

Providing Design Authority capability in
Electrical Engineering for all Spearfish torpedo processing in Depot and
electrical equipment in-service under the current MoD torpedo maintenance and
support Contract. Manage all electrical engineering tasks, including support to
in-service firings and development trials

Supporting resolution of Obsolescence including
identification, development of options and agreement of programmes with the
customer

Managing the team including resource
availability to meet the project requirements

Providing work package updates including
progress summaries, forward plans and estimates

Conducting investigations into electrical
equipment issues or anomalies arising in operation at Depot, Broad Oak and
suppliers

Providing electrical engineering support to the
Spearfish torpedo upgrade programme

Providing a point of contact for: Manufacturing
and Munitions Depot queries, directing all necessary investigations and
corrective actions and MoD enquiries, issuing technical advice and responses for
the company

Acting as the Company Technical Representative
at off-site investigations/trials

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

HND/Degree or
equivalent qualification or experience in Electrical Engineering

Detailed and
comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering and experience to apply
to a wide range of engineering issues

Knowledge of the
complete Engineering Lifecycle with some experience of operating in most
Lifecycle phases

A good understanding
of the Product Safety Management and responsibilities for design integrity,
verification and compliance with the relevant statutory legislation and
regulations

Ability to lead a team
effectively including allocation of tasks, progress tracking and completion of
estimates and procedures

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Familiar with Software, Design Office,
Planning, Handbooks, Configuration Management, Standards Control, Quality
Assurance, Supplier Management, ILS/ARM and Procurement processes and
procedures

Desirable:

Knowledge and understanding of SAP

Knowledge and experience of electrical
machines, test and control systems

Team leadership skills and experience

Chartered engineer or willingness to achieve
